Public sector websites

A public office website that meets the decree and doesn't look like a template

Slovak public administration websites have to meet the standards of Decree No. 78/2020 Coll., including accessibility to WCAG 2.1 level AA. We design them to meet those standards and still have a face of their own, not the same template as hundreds of other offices.

Who it is for

From a village to a region and the organisations they run

Each has different duties and different visitors. What they share is that the site has to stand up to the law and to the person who came to get something done.

Local government

Municipalities and towns

The official notice board, regulations, council meetings, life situations and submissions that can be handled from home.

Regions and state

Regions and public offices

Large agendas, many documents and e-services in which visitors must not get lost.

Established organisations

Schools, libraries, museums

News, events and applications on a clear site that a parent can manage on a phone.

Website demo

Municipal website

The coat of arms opens into the valley as you scroll. The sky follows the real position of the sun and the town hall windows are lit only during office hours. Every notice shows which of its 15 days on the official board it is on, and search works without diacritics. The "Zobraziť právne požiadavky" button numbers every mandatory element in the design, with its paragraph. The demo is in Slovak.

What the rules require

Four things no public sector website can skip

These are not extras bolted on before an inspection. We plan for them from the first sketch, so the design holds together around them.

Official header

The header has to make clear at once that this is an official public administration website. Annex 12 of the decree sets out how.

Accessibility

The site has to work for people with poor sight, without a mouse or with a screen reader. The yardstick is WCAG 2.1 level AA.

Mandatory disclosure

Contracts, orders and invoices under Act No. 211/2000 Coll., and for municipalities the official notice board with publication dates.

Search, RSS, English

Search on a larger site, an RSS feed for new content and the basic facts in English as well.

In the municipal demo every mandatory element is numbered right in the design. Take a look →

Amendment 82/2026 Coll.

Changing the look of an older site?
The new wording applies

Amendment No. 82/2026 Coll. to the decree has been in force since 15 May 2026. For a website published by 14 May 2026, the new standards apply once its visual appearance changes substantially, in particular its typography, colours and header layout. We therefore build public sector redesigns to the new wording from the start.

How it works

From the old site to the new one without downtime

A public office cannot go a single day without its mandatory disclosures, so we build the new site alongside the old one and switch over only when it is finished.

At the start

A proposal fit for procurement

In writing: scope, price and timeline, prepared so that you can use it when awarding the contract.

During the build

Content from the old site

We move documents, notices and pages across and redirect the old addresses, so links from other sites do not end in an error.

After launch

The office runs it itself

Staff add notices and documents themselves, without a developer. If you prefer, we keep looking after the site.

White label

Delivering public sector websites under your own brand?

We will gladly build them for you. You hand over the design and code under your own name and you stay the one talking to the office. We offer white label on all our websites, not only for the public sector.
